RODENT CONTROL SPECIALIST

MSMVCD is looking for a Rodent Control Specialist to join our team!

The Salary Range is from $95,569.91 to $111,468.04

This position is a Full time, regular hire, FLSA non-exempt.

40 Hour work week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM -3:30 PM, based on operational needs.

Overtime may be required.

 

THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, the Rodent Control Specialist (RCS) is the lead staff member in executing the District’s Rodent Control Program in the two-county service area. As the lead, the RCS is responsible for educating and disseminating information to the public and agencies regarding rodent control. The RCS emphasizes the need for exclusion, cleanup and property maintenance, and sanitation in and around affected areas. The RCS encourages neighborhood cooperation and if needed, hosts educational meetings to inform the community regarding their role in reducing infestations. The RCS will perform home and property inspections as necessary pertaining to service requests from the public and problematic situations requiring interagency collaboration. The RCS is also responsible for working administratively with code enforcement officers, county mediation services in tenant/landlord disputes, county environmental health departments, and for maintaining a database of service requests and surveillance data. The RCS provides detailed written post inspection reports, compliance letters, and recommendations for remediation.

This position acts as a Vector Control Technician when needed, for which training may be provided if necessary. For more information on job specifications, duties, minimum qualifications, and other requirements, please see the Job Description.

 

COMPENSATION

A four-step salary scale (see above) applies. ELIGIBILTY

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about rodent biology, behavior and control, as well as possessing a good understanding of structural exclusion and source reduction measures.  Strong skills in the following areas are required: verbal and written communication, collaboration, problem solving & time management. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about public health work, and able to work both indoors and outdoors in a collaborative, dynamic working environment. Previous experience with collaborative interagency work and community outreach is advantageous.
